Privacy
How Craftock handles your information. This is an MVP draft — review with counsel before production use.
What we collect
Account details (name, email), student-verification information you submit (institution, student ID or enrollment reference, supporting notes), and the project content you create — problem, solution, team, media, and open roles. We also keep a record of which version of the Terms and this policy you agreed to, and when, and, if you give permission for a child, the record of that permission.
Under 18
Accounts are for people 18 and over, and for younger people whose parent or legal guardian gives permission. Someone who says they are under 18 on the sign-up form is stopped before anything they typed is sent. Someone who signs in with Google and then says they are under 18 has the account that was just made deleted, with everything attached to it, unless it already holds something; then it is kept until we remove it by hand, which you can ask for at the address below. The sign-in service may keep its own log of the sign-in.
A parent's or guardian's permission
When a parent or guardian gives permission, we keep their full name and the date of birth they declare (Indian law asks that whoever gives permission is an adult), whether they are the parent or the guardian, the child's first name, and when it was given: the record that an adult said yes. The child then makes their own account through a one-time link. A parent or guardian can withdraw permission at any time from Settings → Family. A permission that was never used is then deleted. For one that was, the child's account is deleted, or, if it holds work others rely on, closed with their name, photo and profile details removed and every sign-in ended; the record of the permission and of its withdrawal is kept, without the child's name.
How we use it
To verify student identity with your institution, show approved projects in the public showcase, run competitions and Think Tank prompts, and moderate for quality and similarity. We do not sell personal data.
AI assistance
Craftock uses OpenAI, an external AI provider, for drafting, project discussions, outcome summaries and advisory similarity review. These features send the information described below outside Craftock for processing. AI requests use specific fields, not unrestricted access to the database.
What drafting and discussions send
Montage's editor drafting uses the project title, summary, Problem, Solution, stage, open role titles, earlier drafting decisions and Craftock's skills vocabulary. Hub drafting uses the project's title, status and category, Progress counts and timing measures, work-item titles with type and status, open role titles and skills, contribution role labels and earlier drafting decisions. Hub drafting and hub-item discussions also use bounded excerpts of the project's Problem and Solution, eligible work-item details with their current status and directed links, and eligible saved Story headings and text. Creator-only Hub drafts can include the creator's private work and unpublished Story. Shared item discussions exclude founder-private neighbours and unpublished Story, even when the creator asks; the selected private item can still be discussed by its authorised reader. Large projects are only partly included. Discussing a draft also sends its Problem and Solution, the suggestion's text and kind, role skills and description when present, earlier discussion messages and your new message. Discussing a hub item sends its title, details, type and status, linked titles in both directions, earlier discussion messages and your new question. Linked founder-private titles are excluded. Writing assistance sends the selected text and, when present, the project title, summary and originating Think Tank prompt title, with your chosen mode and language. Think Tank suggestions use the published prompt's title, problem and eligibility text.
Picture ideas for Story parts
Asking for a picture idea sends bounded excerpts of the selected saved Story part and the creator's eligible written project context: title, Problem, Solution, work-item details and status, directed links, and saved Story headings and text. This can include private work and unpublished Story visible to the creator. Photos, videos and evidence files are not sent. The idea stays in the creator's drafts until they choose to use it; requesting an idea does not publish anything or generate an image.
Diagram suggestions for Story parts
Asking for diagram steps sends bounded excerpts of the selected saved Story part and the same eligible creator project context used for picture ideas. This can include private work and unpublished Story visible to the creator, but does not send photos, videos, evidence files or Story Data blocks. Suggested steps stay in the open editor until you choose Add diagram; reloading discards them. An added diagram is labelled Illustration and follows the Story's visibility. Model usage is recorded separately.
Public project examples
When a creator asks Montage to find public examples, we send the same bounded written project context used for Hub seeds, plus up to 30 eligible published project titles, summary excerpts, categories and selection identifiers. Montage returns only a selection of identifiers. Craftock displays links and excerpts read from the public pages, rechecking publication and competition eligibility when the results load. Private project context is not displayed to other teams or added to their projects. Competition participation is checked in the database and is not sent to the AI provider. The page address holds the selected public identifiers; refreshing reads current public content rather than a stored copy. Requests share the existing Hub-seed allowance, and model usage is recorded separately.
Video shot lists for Story parts
Asking for a video shot list sends bounded excerpts of the selected saved Story part and the same eligible creator project context used for picture ideas. Discussing a shot list also sends your edited shots, suggested durations, question and up to six earlier question-and-answer pairs. Private work and unpublished Story visible to the creator may be included; photos, videos and evidence files are not sent. Plans and discussion remain in the open editor and reset on reload. You can use and download a filming checklist; this does not create or publish a video. Model usage is recorded separately.
Discussing your own writing
Discussing an authored heading or text block sends that saved block, the project title, Problem and Solution, your question, and the bounded discussion so far, including earlier suggested wording. It does not send other story blocks or media. This discussion stays in the open editor and resets when you reload or change the block; Craftock records model usage separately. The saved block changes only when you choose Use this wording, and accepted wording follows the story's visibility.
AI summaries and similarity review
Project summaries use the title, status, outcome-tag count, contribution counts, mentor review count and average readiness. Institution summaries use the institution name and type, project and publication counts, hub activity counts, outcome and contribution counts, contributor count, mentor review count and average readiness. These summaries do not send raw mentor feedback or evidence files. Authorised similarity review sends selected project titles, summaries, Problem and Solution text, tags, overlap scores, check identifiers and shared prompt context. Compared projects may be unpublished. AI advice does not automatically reject a project; a human makes the decision.
AI information boundaries
These requests do not retrieve payment or pledge records, student IDs, verification documents, account contact details, application or join-request records, parental-permission records, sign-in records, evidence files, raw mentor feedback, photos or videos. Some requests include aggregate measures, such as roles without applicants or mentor review statistics. Text you or a teammate writes can itself contain personal information: it is not automatically anonymised. Avoid putting personal details or someone else's confidential information into text used for AI assistance.
AI records and requests about your data
Craftock stores saved suggestions and discussions, model and usage information, and records of drafting decisions. Marking a hub item Done or Resolved keeps its discussion and allows further questions; asking does not reopen the item. Archiving keeps the discussion as read-only history. Accepting a follow-up creates a separate linked task or note. Deleting the parent item removes its attached discussion. Accepted suggestions become project content. Deleting one item does not necessarily remove every related usage record, shared contribution or backup at the same time. Provider processing and retention depend on the applicable service terms and account controls; this draft does not promise zero retention or processing only in India. Verification & institutions
When you request verification tied to an institution, the institution's authorized reviewers can see the verification details you submit so they can confirm you are their student.
Payments
Craftock is a sandbox build. Funding figures are simulated — no real money moves and no payment or card data is collected.

You can edit your profile and project drafts, and request account or data deletion. Email hello@craftock.com to exercise any data request, and say which account it is for so we can find it.
